adidas Predator Beckham: Precision Meets Legacy

06

One free-kick. One unforgettable moment. Two Limited Edition Predators.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of David Beckham’s most iconic goals, adidas are bringing together past and present with two special-edition football boots: the adidas Predator Precision FG DB and the adidas Predator Elite FT FG DB.

Both boots pay tribute to Beckham’s legendary free-kick for England against Greece on October 6, 2001 – the goal that secured England’s place at the 2002 Tournament.

The free-kick that became football history

England needed a goal.

Deep into stoppage time at Old Trafford, David Beckham stepped up to take a free-kick against Greece. It was the type of moment that had become his trademark – pressure, precision and one opportunity to get it right.

Beckham delivered.

His free-kick found the net and secured the result England needed to qualify for the 2002 Tournament.

The setting made the moment even more special. Old Trafford was the stadium where Beckham had developed from a Manchester United academy player into one of the biggest names in world football.

Now, 25 years later, adidas are revisiting that moment through two different generations of Predator.

One story. Two Predators.

The launch connects the boot Beckham wore during that era with the modern Predator of today.

The Predator Precision FG DB takes inspiration directly from the Predator Precision Beckham wore when he scored the free-kick in 2001.

Alongside it sits the Predator Elite FT FG DB, bringing the Beckham story onto the latest generation of Predator.

Both arrive in a striking white, silver and red colourway, creating a clean look that feels fitting for one of football’s most recognisable style icons.

The similarities connect the two boots, but each model includes its own unique details celebrating Beckham and the goal.

The modern interpretation features several bespoke Beckham details.

The classic Fold-Over Tongue features “BECKHAM” branding alongside the adidas Originals Trefoil, while Beckham’s name also replaces the traditional Predator branding on the lateral side of the boot.

Trefoil patterns appear across the Three Stripes, outsole and insoles, while different details on the left and right boot combine adidas, Trefoil and Beckham branding.

Even the elastic strap gets the signature treatment, with “Beckham” woven directly into it.

Underneath the special design, the boot uses the same upper and outsole construction as the current adidas Predator Elite FT FG.

The second boot goes directly back to 2001.

The Limited Edition Predator Precision uses the original Predator Precision upper, combined with the outsole from the current Predator Elite FT FG – connecting the feel of the original boot with modern tooling.

The Fold-Over Tongue features “BECKHAM” alongside the adidas Performance logo, but some of the best details are hidden underneath.

Lift the tongue and you’ll find “90+3”, referencing the timing of Beckham’s free-kick, together with the words:

“Beckham could raise the roof here with a goal.”

The heel features the number 7, referencing Beckham’s England shirt number, while the insoles include his logo alongside the details of the match:

Just like the modern version, “BECKHAM” is also woven into the elastic tongue strap.
